YOU WILL FALL INTO A TEAR

(Dedication for PHILIPPINE MOTHERS and WOMEN in celebration of International Women’s Day 2023)

In the pen of Rado Gatchalian

You will be filled with tears

that you hid for so long,

and though endured all the pain

You continue to love the drought pasture;

Tirelessly faced the agonizing heat,

and be the storm without compassion,

you never give up on your dream,

for your children who are more than your life;

Be your palm that caresses the night,

praying dark but with sobbing,

The offspring who just forgot,

there is a treasure they are chasing.

In a world where no one chooses, rich or poor,

you are the mother to choose is the one in your womb,

and in old age and when there is no more strength to offer

offer a smile that will never be forgotten.

And in the dawn of your home,

flowers as passionate as your warm embrace,

Butterflies fly and fly like your love,

You are my everything, companion and only companion,

a mother who forget a sweet name

so that the most beloved will be known by society,

no fame has been awarded to you,

in your heart dwells the greatest of all.

And if you cry tonight,

tomorrow morning at your home the sun is rising,

will wait without tiredness or doubt,

a mother, a lady, whose joy is to see you again.

“A mother who has forgotten a sweet name

so that the most beloved will be known by society,

no fame has been awarded to you,

in your heart dwells the greatest of all. "
